Senior Systems Engineer


The Senior Systems Engineer will provide oversight across a wide array of Operational Systems and Projects.  This includes systems administration, integration, and troubleshooting systems and software problems; establishing and updating procedures and documentation and providing direct customer support to the Government customer's Enterprise Software Asset Management (ESAM) architecture and systems. Support requirements for managing installation, configuration and maintenance of Windows servers in support of business processing requirements. Execution of on-site and remote system administration support. Perform software installations and upgrades to Windows operating systems and ESAM system and maintains them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements; evaluation and installation of software/hardware patches and resolution of software related problems associated with COTS/GOTS products. Attend meetings weekly and provide weekly status reports. Resolve a wide range of system issues, troubleshooting software, hardware, diagnosis of network issues, and addressing trouble tickets and service tasks across all tiered levels. Working knowledge and understanding of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Information Technology - particularly as they relate to software asset and inventory management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and directed, yet willing to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with software licensing: Inventory control, license types, Use Right and Rules and duration (e.g. Perpetual & Term/Subscription).
  • Familiarity with Windows server environments.
  • Process initial license and maintenance renewals throughout the entire software lifecycle.
  • Establish new user accounts, assigns privileges.
  • Measure, track, report, and gain insight on all software licenses across the enterprise.
  • Establish and updates procedures and documentation.
  • Familiarity with Windows desktop environments.
  • Participate in technical exchanges.
  • Experienced customer support skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Security Clearance.
  • Flexera license management tools.
  • Software Asset Management process familiarity: contractual, financial, asset discovery and IT governance functions supporting software and hardware life-cycle management.
  • Knowledge of databases, (e.g., Microsoft SQL).
  • Assist in analysis on entitlements, usage, and business requirements in order to forecast business needs.
  • Experience with Cloud Computing/SaaS (e.g., Amazon Web Services).
  • Familiarity with compliance and audit reporting.
  • Develop, compile, test and deploy custom scripting to user specifications for problem resolution.
  • Familiarity with software provisioning tools (e.g., SCCM, BMC VMware).
  • DoD 8570 Level II compliant, (e.g., Security+).


Bachelor's Degree with 3 -5 years of relevant experience or equivalent relevant experience.
